Senate Bill 43

Contact:  Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs
Agency: Energy, Labor & Economic Growth

Summary

Sponsor: Senator John J.H. Schwarz
Committee: Economic Development, International Trade and Regulatory Affairs
Referred Date: March 7, 2000
Topic: Breweries

The bill amends Section 409 of the Liquor Control Code of 1998 by increasing the threshold for definition of an "eligible brewer" from 30,000 to 50,000 barrels. The $2 per barrel tax credit would be limited to the first 30,000 barrels.

The bill also adds a new Section 411 which permits a brewer producing less than 200,000 barrels of beer who is not licensed as a microbrewer to sell its beer for on-premises consumption at one location in Michigan that is on its licensed brewery premises.
