The bill permits the owner or operator of a music venue or the promoter of a performance of a performer whose most recent recording contains a parental advisory to provide certain advisories regarding the content of the performance. These advisories include an advisory stating "PARENTAL ADVISORY WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT" on the ticket and in print advisertisements. A similar advisory would be included in television, radio and other electronic advertisements.
The Department of State would be required to maintain a list of music venues that are in compliance with the act. The list must be made available to the general public. If the department learns that a music venue is no longer in compliance, it must remove its name from the list. The music venue whose name has been removed from the list may petition to have its name placed back on the compliance list one year after removal.
