Any individual who in good faith voluntarily renders emergency services to another using a defibrilator cannot be held liable, in a civil action, for any damages resulting from the use, except an act or omission that constitutes gross negligence or willful and wanton misconduct.
This act does not apply if the services were rendered as a result of a request made through 9-1-1 or any other universal emergency services telephone numbers.
Also, the act only applies to civil actions that have been filed or pending on or after July 1, 1999. Finally, individuals licensed under part 209 of the public health code are not subject to this act.
