(May 24, 2007) A package of four contractor bills unanimously passed the Senate on Wednesday. The bills will revive an effort to establish more stringent penalties for unlicensed builders. Similar bills were vetoed by the Governor in late 2006, because there were concerns regarding the continuing education provisions and there was insufficient funding for the proposed enforcement fund. The Legislature has addressed those two issues, and it appears that Senate Bills 450-3 will move quickly.
