Judge Van Coevering was appointed to serve as Chairman
of the Tax Tribunal in 2003. Previously, he served as an
assistant attorney general, as senior tax counsel for the
Michigan Department of Treasury, and as Administrator of
the Department of Treasury’s Legal and Hearings Division.
From 2000 to 2003, Judge Van Coevering chaired the
Multistate Tax Commission’s Litigation Committee.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College
and his law degree from the University of Michigan.
