Instructions
Instructions are documents issued under MIOSHA's document management system. Instructions are issued at the agency level and by MIOSHA divisions. Agency level instructions provide policy and procedures on a variety or areas including compliance, standards, staff training/travel, personnel and other administrative issues such as budget and program management issues. MIOSHA division level instructions provide division policy and procedures in these same areas.

Memos

Memos are a part of MIOSHA's document management system. Memos are issued at the agency and division level. Memos are shorter documents that provide policy or interpretive information, generally of a very specific nature. As an example, memos have been used to provide guidance on how to apply a specific rule within a standard, when no overall instruction for the entire standard exists.

Letters of Interpretations
| Letters of Interpretation are written MIOSHA explanations of the requirements of MIOSHA standards and how they apply to a particular circumstance. These explanations are given in response to a specific inquiry. |
