The Michigan Commission for the Blind Training Center (MCBTC) is a modern residential training facility situated on 23 picturesque acres in a lovely residential neighborhood near the heart of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Located along a major thoroughfare and bus line, the center is conveniently located for shopping, entertainment, recreational, cultural and educational activities.
Kalamazoo, Michigan, has been nationally recognized as one of the best places in the country to live if you happen to be blind. This has come about, in part, because of the presence and work of the MCB Training Center since 1969, combined with a sensitive, accepting community ready and willing to partner with the Michigan Commission for the Blind. The presence of Kalamazoo College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Western Michigan University with its Department of Blind Rehabilitation offer additional opportunities for enrichment, involvement, and discovery.
By coming to Kalamazoo, blind people from Michigan and other states have a unique opportunity to experience a multi-cultural community where it is possible to live a full, productive and rewarding lifestyle.
