Information for MCB Staff

Note:  Everything here is public information, and most of these items appear elsewhere on the Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) website.  These items are grouped together on this page for handy reference by MCB staff.  To find a topic on this page using a keyword, go to the Edit menu and click on "Find on this page."

Consumer Information Packet items (updated 3/19/09):      For standard 14-point font packet materials and audio packets distributed by MCB to new or prospective MCB consumers, MCB staff should contact Susan Turney at 517-241-8631.  For alternative formats in Braille, print larger than 14 pt. font, and computer text files, each MCB office produces these using the Microsoft Word files at the links below: 

  1. Text of Letter from MCB State Director Patrick D. Cannon
  2. Talking Books brochure
  3. Resource Contact List (for MCB Consumer Information Packet)  -- Note: Add your local MCB office contact information before printing (from your computer) and photocopying this document at your MCB office.
  4. American Printing House for the Blind Products Catalog Application Form (For this item, MCB staff can get quantities of the standard print application form from Susan Turney at 517-241-8631.  For all other formats, the consumer's counselor or teacher can call American Printing House for the Blind at 1- 800-223-1839  to request a catalogue in the format needed to be sent directly to the consumer's home.)

Brochures, signature guides, etc. -- how to get these:

  • Standard (14-point) print publications, Braille alphabet cards, & signature guides: Please check the supply at your MCB office first, and then contact Susan Turney at 517-241-8631 at least a week before the items are needed.
  • Larger print format publications (larger than 14-point font):   Larger print alternative format documents are produced by MCB staff at each office using the Microsoft Word files on this page.
  • Audio format publications (as an alternative format):  Audio copies of MCB publications and information packet items are produced at the MCB central office in Lansing.  MCB staff who need audio as an alternative format for an MCB consumer should contact Susan Turney at 517-241-8631.
  • Computer text file format publications (in Microsoft Word):  These CDs or discs are produced at each   MCB office using the Microsoft Word files on this page.  The Word files can be downloaded onto a computer and then copied onto a CD or computer disc.  The files can also be attached to an email message.
  • Braille format publications:  Braille alternative format documents are produced by MCB staff at each office using Duxbury software and the Microsoft Word files on this page.
