Directory of Visually Impaired Services This online version of the Directory of Visually Impaired Services has more than 900 resources in 22 categories. The directory is published by The Visually Impaired Information Center, a non-profit organization established in 1995 and located in Livonia, Michigan. Print copies and additional formats of the directory can be ordered on their website.
Hands-On Parenting: A Resource Guide for Parents who are Blind or Partially Sighted is a new resource guide for parents who are blind or visually impaired published by a nonprofit organization called Through the Looking Glass. The guide ($40) is available for purchase in large print, regular print, or CD-ROM.
Learning Opportunities For Your Child Through Alternate Assessments This booklet from the U.S. Department of Education introduces parents to the "big ideas" contained in school improvement efforts under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and provides parents with the information they need to help ensure that their children can benefit from these efforts. The end of this booklet identifies suggested sources of additional information.
