Investing In Ability Week

Since 1988, MCDC has been the coordinator of Investing in Ability Week. The Office of Disability Employment Policy has designated the month of October as disability awareness month. In Michigan, the Governor has designated a week in October as "Investing in Ability Week" (IAW) to promote employment of people with disabilities.

Suggested theme days for IAW are: Awareness Day, Employer Day, Rehabilitation Day, Technology Day, Independent Living Day, Education Day, and Access Day.

In past years, an IAW placemat, bookmark, brochure, and a community planning packet were developed. The Commission continues to provide information and technical assistance to local communities on IAW activities.
