Is the theater required to show closed-captioned movies?

Answer:
No. The movie theaters are not required by any federal law to show opened or closed captioned movies. However the Filmmakers are encouraged to produce and distribute open captioned versions of films, and theaters are encouraged to have at least some preannounced screenings of a captioned version of feature films. See Closed Captioning Web for Theater Access updates.
