ASL is not English on the hands. It is a totally different language, with its own syntax and grammatical structure. ASL is heavily conceptual, and depends a great deal on appropriate facial expression and contextual reference points. Example: ASL: #IF RAIN, PLEASE CL:1-WALK-BOUNCE-UNDER-CL:B B-U-S PROTECT. WAIT. I MEET-YOU WILL. English (in signs): If it rains, please walk to the bus shelter and wait for me.
