FAQ
  People With Disabilities
Is doctor in private practice supposed to provide an interpreter?

Answer:
The doctor must accommodate you. Many times the accommodation will be an interpreter, especially if the appointment is complicated. If the accommodation the doctor provides you (writing notes or a nurse that can fingerspell) is not effective(you still do not understand the information), then let the doctor know right away. The doctor can get a tax credit and tax deduction for providing you with accommodations (like interpreters or assistive devices). If you need an interpreter and the doctor agrees, you may have to tell them where to find the interpreter and how to use the interpreter.
