The State of Michigan Land Bank
Garden for Growth Program
When
neighbors plant a garden together they often find that they have
grown much more than food. The cooperative spirit of the
gardeners can result in the growth of an entire community.
Gardening cultivates an awareness of, and appreciation for,
neighbors and the surroundings, and grows opportunities such as
improved health from eating fresh vegetables, economic income
from selling produce, and overall revitalization of the
community.

WHAT WILL YOUR GARDEN LOOK LIKE?
|
|
The Michigan Land Bank
welcomes communities and individuals to participate in the
Garden for Growth Program to beautify, green and strengthen your
neighborhoods. For just $25 a year you can lease land to garden
and cultivate as you like.
The opportunity to lease
and not own gives you the control to utilize vacant lots in your
neighborhood without paying taxes or other financial burdens
that come with ownership.
Leasing a lot to green or garden comes with more benefits than
flowers or produce, other benefits include: |
|
Lowering the cost of your grocery bill while eating healthy and
delicious produce |
|
Community strengthening, teamwork and awareness |
|
Possible rise in home values |
|
Special consideration for future purchase of property |
|
Pay no property taxes on the land
