Big Q graphicDo I need to be listed as an immigration clerical assistant if I represent or act on behalf of an organization who only translates immigration documents from a language other than English into English?

Big A graphicNo.   An individual representing or acting on behalf of an organization that translates documents into English in an immigration matter is exempt from the act.  Section 5 (e)(i)

 

Big Q graphic  Do I need to be listed as an immigration clerical assistant if I translate immigration documents free of charge for friends and family?

Big A graphic No.  An individual who has a personal, family, or business relationship with an individual subject to an immigration matter and is engaged in the immigration matter for that individual without compensation is exempt from the act.  Section 5(c)

 

Big Q graphicDo I need to be listed as an immigration clerical assistant if I only do a small amount of business (less than 5 people per week) for a fee to help persons regarding their immigration status or citizenship status by drafting or completing an application or other document in an immigration matter.

Big A graphicYes.  If you provide any services to a consumer regarding an immigration matter for a fee and are not part of an organization that is exempt from the act, you must be listed as an immigration clerical assistant with the Department of Labor & Economic Growth. Section 3(e)(f)(g)(h)
