Education Requirements

Applicants for a mortuary science license are required to have completed a 3-year course of study consisting of 60 semester/90 quarter hours at an accredited college or university, and one academic year of instruction in an accredited mortuary science program.

The 60 semester/90 quarter hours of education shall include:

Minimum Hours
(i) Public speaking/communications
3 semester/3 quarter
(ii) Psychology/death and dying/ gerontology
6 semester/8 quarter
(iii) Comparative religion or ethnic/multi-cultural studies
3 semester/4 quarter

All required courses must be undergraduate courses numbered 100 level or higher.
