When can I use the state coat of arms? Can I use it on something that isn't state government-related?

Answer:
The state coat of arms can be used freely in any medium. There are no restrictions on its use. The coat of arms is sometimes confused with the "Great Seal" which is the official seal of the State of Michigan. Its use is prohibited without the permission of the Department of State, Office of the Great Seal.
