I'm going to a Conference and they sent me the information on the hotel. Does the contracted travel agency have to make these reservations, since they exceed the state rate?

Answer:

NO. Conference hotels are exempt from exceeding the state rate. You may reserve the conference hotel yourself once you have approval from your department to attend.
