FAQ
  Vehicle Services
If no state car is available (pool or otherwise), is an employee entitled to premium mileage?

Answer:

An employee can seek premium mileage reimbursement when prior approval has been obtained to utilize their personal vehicle for authorized travel when there is no state provided vehicle available (pool or otherwise).

If the employee is traveling less than 50 miles, they are eligible for premium mileage reimbursement if the department has approved the private vehicle use regardless of whether a state vehicle is available. For employees who routinely travel over 50 miles, departments should be looking into pool vehicle availability or assigning a vehicle to the area for use. Please remember that an employee cannot have both premium mileage and standard mileage reimbursement for the same trip. If they qualify for standard mileage reimbursement during a trip, all reimbursement is at the standard rate for that trip.
