Paper Recycling
All state offices are required to recycle office paper per Public Act 411 (PA 411) of 1988. PA 411 was later codified as section 16502 of the Natural Resources Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended. Section 16502 mandates an Office Paper Recycling system for state employees with a goal of an 85 percent recycling rate by the year 2000. Besides providing recycling goals, Section 16502 requires staff education on the importance of recycling and proper use of the office paper recycling system.
DMB-Facilities Administration administers the contract for recycling of office waste paper for all state agencies in the Lansing area (Ingham and Eaton Counties).
