Lansing - The State of Michigan's surplus store will be open for business Saturday, Feb. 18, in a new location. MiStore has moved to 3111 W. St. Joseph in Lansing - just next door to its previous site.

MiStore, which is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month, has a vast inventory of surplus items coming from property seized by police, items voluntarily surrendered at airports, and property no longer needed by government agencies.  Merchandise includes computers, clothing, pocket knives, office furniture, wine keys, desks, lawn maintenance equipment, book shelves, jewelry, cameras and much more. 

"Customers always find great deals when they visit our store and online auction site," said Kristi Thompson, who manages the state's surplus program within the Department of Technology, Management and Budget.

DTMB is charged with collecting these items and making them available to the public for purchase through the surplus store, live auctions and online auctions. The MiBid online auction site is available to browse and bid 24 hours a day at www.michigan.gov/mibid.
