MAP (Maintenance Assistance Program) is provided through Wheels Inc. MAP will support you in locating a service supplier, work directly with the repair facility to determine necessary repairs, issue authorizations, and handle payment to the supplier. You do not have to make any arrangements with the supplier other than scheduling repairs should your vehicle need extensive repair work.
When you cannot schedule your vehicle's maintenance at Vehicle and Travel Services in Lansing, you may use service suppliers through the MAP network of garages and dealers. The MAP guide is specific to the vehicle listed on the back of the guide and includes the vehicle identification number (VIN), the Wheels vehicle number and the license plate number. The MAP maintenance schedule is specific to that particular vehicle and is not transferable to any other state vehicle. Your MAP guide is in the vehicle's glove box.
The use of national account or MAP vendors is recommended for scheduled (preventive) and unscheduled maintenance whenever possible. Typically these suppliers offer volume discounts so the overall cost to the state is less. If you experience failure on a component that could be covered under warranty, contact MAP for direction on where to take the vehicle for service.
To reach MAP, call 1-800-937-8149, then select from the voice menu for service needed. Hours of service are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.(Eastern Standard Time), Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
