| Fueling Information
|
Drivers are required to economize by obtaining fuel at state-operated locations when in the vicinity, fueling with unleaded regular gasoline only (no super unleaded or premium fuel), and using only self-service pumps.
Flex-fuel vehicles should be fueled with E85 whenever possible. The VTS Garage at the Secondary Complex has an E85 pump; 70 stations throughout Michigan sell E85. Visit Wright Express to look up fuel stations near you.
When a state pump is not available, drivers can economize by using lower cost, value stations (Speedway, Citgo, BP) and avoiding premium brands (Shell, Mobil, Amoco). Avoid Marathon unless absolutely necessary as they do not honor our tax exempt status on fuel purchases.
Fuel credit cards for VTS-provided vehicles are the State of Michigan Wheels/WEX card or the Wright Express Universal Fuel Card. Report lost, damaged, or stolen Wheels/WEX fuel cards immediately to Wheels at 1-800-477-2211. Be prepared to give your vehicle number, where you want the replacement card sent, and how it is to be sent (2nd day air express, regular mail, etc.). As with any credit card, once a card is reported lost or stolen, it is removed from the system and will not be honored by stations.
Each time you fuel, you will be required to key in the PIN number and current odometer reading of your vehicle. This validates the fuel purchase and enables VTS to bill accurate mileage on a monthly basis.
Visit the US Department of Energy Alternative Fuels Station Locator to search for alternative fuel sites.
