Recycling in State Government

• State of Michigan Paper Recycling Program
The Department of Technology, Management & Budget's Facilities Administration is proud to manage the paper recycling program for all State buildings in the Lansing area and in DTMB-managed buildings throughout the State. DTMB is dedicated to responsible stewardship of the State's environmental resources and paper recycling is crucial in greening Michigan. In 2008, a total of 5,310,932 pounds of paper was recycled by state government offices through DTMB's contracted recycling services. This is equivalent to saving 8,761 cubic yards of landfill space; 45,135 trees; 1,812,027 gallons of oil; and 18,585,000 gallons of water that would otherwise be used in making new paper.
