Michigan Military Retirement
Michigan National Guard (Army or Air) service members who served honorably for a minimum of 19 years, 6 months, and 1 day of active Michigan National Guard service are eligible to receive the state military retirement benefit. Inactive National Guard (ING) service is not considered creditable service for this benefit nor is service in another state's National Guard or other branch of the military.
Federal Military Retirement
Generally, to qualify for the federal military retirement, a service member must have completed at least 20 years of qualifying uniformed service. Medically unqualified members of the selected reserve with more than 15 qualifying years of service may request early retirement.
