Who is eligible for a VA-guaranteed home loan?
 
Answer:

In general, the following may be eligible to participate in the VA's Home Loan Guaranty program:

  • Veterans with 90 days wartime service, 181 continuous days of peacetime service before September 1980 (October 1981 for officers), or 24 months of active duty service after September 1980 (October 1981 for officers)
  • Current active duty service personnel with at least 181 continuous days of service
  • Current or former selected reserves and National Guard members who have completed 6 years while attending required drill and annual training periods
  • Certain other qualifying individuals
