Was a native of New York, and in 1850 gave his age as 52. He was by profession a lawyer, and was in earlier life in professional practice at Detroit. He was Master of Chancery in 1839; Justice in 1835-6; publisher of the Craftsman in 1838; merged it in the Morning Post and Craftsman in 1839 and 1840; School Inspector, 1842; and Adjutant General of Michigan, 1842 to 1844. He went to the Upper Peninsula in 1847. He died Apr. 26, 1851
