Egbert M. Rosecrans served as the Adjutant General of Michigan from 1940 to 1943.

 

Rosecrans began his military career as a private in Battery A, First Michigan Field Artillery, from May 18, 1916, to July 14, 1917. During this period, he was promoted to private first class and then corporal. The First Michigan Field Artillery saw Federal service on Mexican Border during this period.

 

During World War I, Rosecrans saw combat with the 119th Field Artillery (the redesignation of the First Michigan Field Artillery). During war service, he rose to the rank of Battalion Sergeant Major.

 

Following the war, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Field Artillery, November 9, 1920, First Lieutenant, July 22, 1921 and Captain, November 15, 1922. Rosecrans was assigned to Adjutant General's Department, June 8, 1925. There, he was promoted to Major and then Lieutenant Colonel.

 

On August 12, 1940, Rosecrans was appointed Adjutant General of the State. of Michigan and promoted to Colonel, September 1, 1940. His military education included the Infantry School, National Guard Officers' Course, 1931, and graduate of Command and General Staff School, National Guard Officers' Special Course, 1931.1
