The Office of Financial Services (OFS) is responsible for the management of all the Department’s state budget, accounting, fixed asset, motor vehicle, inventory, purchasing, armory rentals, and transportation and travel activities. OFS prepares the annual Department budget requests, gives guidance and direction on the Department's operating budget, and acts as Department liaison between the State Budget Office and the Michigan Legislature regarding the Department's budget and appropriation. Once the budget is enacted, OFS provides guidance and direction on the budget with the Department’s various divisions. OFS is also responsible for ensuring that the State’s accounting books are properly closed for the Department at the end of each fiscal year.

OFS is comprised of two divisions. The Budgeting and Accounting Division manages funding and accounting, including revenue and payables processing, program budget development, expenditure monitoring, and the like. The Department Services Division has responsibility for purchasing of commodities and services as well as state property and vehicle management.
