Commander - Michigan Air National Guard

BG Robert Johnston Major General Robert H. Johnston is the Chief of Staff, Joint Forces Headquarters, Michigan Air National Guard and also serves as the Commander, Michigan Air National Guard. As Commander, General Johnston directs the activities of the Michigan Air National Guard in support of the Adjutant General, Michigan and is responsible for the Air National Guard units located at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, and the Combat Readiness Training Center, Alpena, Michigan. General Johnston received his commission as a second lieutenant in 1978 as the honor graduate of the Academy of Military Science. He has served in numerous assignments in flying and operations, as well as command positions at the squadron level up through wing. General Johnston is a command pilot with more than 3,500 hours in the F-4 and F-16 aircraft. Prior to assuming his current position, General Johnston was the 127th Wing Commander at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan.
