In addition to the federal rights accorded by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, Michigan National Guard members have several protections under Michigan state law.
Act 133 of 1955 (Military Leaves; Reemployment Protection) provides for the granting of military leaves and re-employment protection for officers and enlisted men of the military or naval forces of the state or of the United States.
Teachers have extended protection provided by Act 145 of 1943. Public employees have similar extended protection provided by Act 263 of 1951.
