The activity therapy team is composed of recreation therapists and activity professionals that serve all 13 nursing units and our domiciliary program. The activity team provides on-unit and facility-wide programming as well as community interaction. Each activity professional is one of the four disciplines that plan and provide therapeutic and leisure activities for every member based on his/her interests and ability.
On-unit activities include music appreciation, table games, trivia, crafts, horticulture, holiday celebrations and sensory groups. Every member is assessed by an activity professional to determine their leisure interests and abilities. That assessment is shared with inter-disciplinary team to provide the best care and activity program for the member.
On top of programming unit activities the activity team is busy planning and implementing several special events during the year. These events provide fun opportunities for members, family and volunteers in which to participate throughout the year. Annual events like Las Vegas day, fishing derbies, a family carnival, community trick-or-treating and of course lots of Christmas fest ivies fill the calendar.
The facility grounds are what make us unique in the fact that we have a fully wheelchair assessable nature trail, fishing deck, and amphitheater, greenhouse and a bowling alley onsite.
As you can see we have an activity for just about anyone. We take great pride in our ability to provide unique and diverse programming and events. The activity team strives to enhance our therapeutic recreation and activity programs through the development of staff training and teamwork.
