Lansing, Mich. - Following an 8-month tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, 130 Soldiers from the 464th Quartermaster Company, Michigan Army National Guard, are scheduled to arrive for a homecoming ceremony at the Michigan Army National Guard Armory on 2140 West Genesee St., Lapeer, Mich., 48446.
The unit departed Michigan in April 2009 for mission specific training at Fort McCoy, Wis. While in country the unit conducted transportation, intelligence processing, installation security and sustainment missions. The unit received numerous awards for their deployment including 14 Meritorious Service Medals, 80 Army Commendation Medals and 10 Army Achievement Medals.
Today, nearly 850 Michigan National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are deployed across the globe in support of the global war on terrorism; however, as the Michigan Guard serves the nation abroad, more than 90 percent of the force is available, trained and ready to respond to a state emergency including a terrorist event.
