Lansing, Mich.-The family of former Traverse City resident and Army Sgt.
Dillon Foxx would like to express their appreciation for the outpouring of
support they have received from family, friends and the community.
The family would also like to thank the media for understanding that they
will not be granting interviews during this difficult time.
Sgt. Foxx, an active duty Soldier, died Feb. 5 in Afghanistan of wounds
suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive
device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry
Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Sgt. Foxx, 22, joined the Army in 2006 following his graduation from Traverse
City West Senior High School. He was serving his second tour of duty in
Afghanistan when he was killed.
During his time as a Soldier, Foxx earned numerous awards including Army
Commendation and Achievement Medals, a National Defense Service Medal and the
Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a Bronze Service Star. Posthumous medal
pending include a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and an Army Good Conduct Medal.
His family described him as a "quick learner" who picked up new tasks easily
and worked hard to get the job done, whatever the job was.
Funeral arrangements by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home are pending.
