Taylor, a Lansing, Mich. resident, also serves with the National Guard Association of the United States and was elected September 9 as the association’s Army vice chairman of the board. As vice chairman, he will represent the 500,000 men and women of the National Guard on Army matters.
In Michigan, Taylor is responsible for the supervision of training, logistics and operations for more than 8,000 Michigan Army National Guard soldiers. He assumed his current position and was promoted to brigadier general in 1993.
Taylor enlisted in the Michigan National Guard as a private in 1966. In 1969, he graduated from the Michigan Military Academy where he earned a commission to second lieutenant. During his 36 years of military service, Taylor has held a wide range of positions, including the Chief of Staff, Director of Operations and Training, and the Director of Army Personnel.
