Fort Custer National Cemetery, near Battle Creek, Michigan opened as a National Cemetery in 1988 under the management of the US Department of Veterans Affairs.  Fort Custer National Cemetery serves as the final resting place for over 16,000 veterans and eligible family members.  Approximately 1300 burials occur each year.
