FAQ
  US Flag Etiquette
When should the US flag be flown?

Answer:

The US flag can be flown everyday except during inclement weather. An all-weather flag may be flown during inclement weather. Generally, the US flag is flown from sun-up to sun-down. The US flag shouuld not be flown during darkness unless it is lighted.

National holidays and the state's date of admittance to the Union (January 26th for Michigan) are particularly significant days for flying the flag.
