    MVAA to honor POW/MIA Day at the Capitol

    What:  National POW/MIA Day observance at the state Capitol

    Who:  Chaplain James R. Chapin, Jr., Michigan Army National Guard; 46th Military Police Command Color Guard, Michigan Army National Guard; Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency representatives and honored guests.

    When:  Friday, September 20, 2013
    Refreshments served at 11:30 a.m., ceremony at 12:30 p.m.

    Where:  Capitol Building, 1st Floor Rotunda and West Corridor

    Synopsis:  National POW/MIA Recognition Day is held each year on the third Friday in September and honors those still missing from our nation’s past wars and conflicts and those who made the ultimate sacrifice and whose remains have not yet been recovered and returned home.

    There are 1,645 American MIAs from Vietnam by count of the National League of POW-MIA Families, of which 49 are from Michigan. More information can be found at: http://www.dtic.mil/dpmo/.
