Dementia & Special Needs Care

There are two secured Dementia units at the Veteran's Home. The staffs on both units have experience serving the families and the members with dementia through the various stages of the disease. Additional support efforts include behavioral programs, full-time activity staff, and a family support group.

The Home also has a secured Special Needs unit that provides care for members who are diagnosed with both psychiatric and medical needs. Prospective members have to be assessed as appropriate for this unit prior to admission to the Home. A multi-disciplinary behavior management program is used to help maintain or restore the members medical/psychiatric capabilities.
