On day of admission, upon arrival, you will be greeted by our Admissions and Member Finance Departments to have the new member (or responsible party) review and sign required paperwork. Admissions personnel will escort you to your unit/room where, soon after, you will be greeted by the doctor, clinical social worker, nursing staff and nutrition manager for interview and assessment.
This can be a very busy day for most; for this reason we ask that you schedule your arrival as early as possible. Most of our rooms have four beds, some two beds, and we also provide single private rooms that are reserved for hospice patients. Room designation is based on level of care and bed availability. Room furnishings include a bed, bedding, full size built-in closet, a built-in locker, a nightstand and, in most cases, a mount for a TV.
CLOTHING AND PERSONAL ITEMS: We suggest bringing 7-10 changes of clothing. Some examples of items that can be brought along are pictures, a small radio and personal hygiene items. We discourage perishable food items from being in the members' rooms.
FURNITURE: It is best to see the space in the room before bringing furniture items. This way you will know if a small dresser or non-cloth upholstered chair is appropriate within the space. Furniture will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
MEDICATIONS: Please DO NOT bring medications with you. You may bring them in for us to dispose of safely if you choose. We do not administer medication outside of our own pharmacy. It is important that you bring a list of your current medications and dose prescribed to ensure continuity of care.
LAUNDRY: Our facility provides clean bedding and changes it as needed. We also provide laundry service that collects soiled garments to be sent out to launder. We require that all garments have the member's name written inside of them with a black permanent marker. We also have laundry facilities for members/families to wash their own clothing if desired.
TELEVISION/ELECTRONICS: Must be equipped with a headphone jack and have a remote control with on/off switch & channel selector. The standard acceptable size for a TV is 13". If flatscreen, then it may be a few inches larger. If we can fit the TV on the shelf or mount safely, we will accommodate larger TV's on a case-by-case basis. All electronic devices need to be inspected by the Safety Department.*
VEHICLES/BICYCLES: Members are allowed to park in the back parking lot but require a parking sticker from the Safety Department. Bicycles are the members' responsibility and we suggest locking them up.
*Our Safety Department reserves the right to search a new member's personal effects on day of admission to ensure the safety of our other members and staff.
