The current list of organizations supporting our Members through the Volunteer Services Program are:
American Legion and Auxiliary
American Veterans (AMVETS) and Auxiliary
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Auxiliary
Marine Corp League and Auxiliary
Michigan Elks Association and Lady Elks
Military Order of the Cootie and Auxiliary
Miliary Order of the Purple Heart and Auxiliary
Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary
Vietnam Veterans and Auxiliary
Above named service organizations have representatives on the Veterans Facility Coordinators (VFC) committee. Each VFC attends meetings and shares information concerning provision of services to the Members of our Home.
These organizations provide volunteer services in various capacities and programs year around at our Home. The quality of life our Members enjoy is directly related to their dedication and commitment.
Volunteer Services Assistance Needs
Community Programs: Sporting events, shopping trips, post & lodge outings, movies, bowling, bus rides, fishing trips, museum visits, iron mine tours, plays and musical attendance, and other community & cultural events.
In-Home Programs: Games assistant (bingo, cards, checkers, cribbage, etc.), wood shop, ceramics shop, greenhouse, library, puzzle room, paint class, Special Needs Unit, visitor, writer, reader, transporter (wheelchair members in-home), parties, and home movies.
