The Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has three primary missions: to execute the
duties laid down by various state statutes and the governor, to administer state regulated services and to ensure preparedness of the Michigan National Guard to assist both state and federal authorities.

Under the National Defense Act, the Army and Air National Guard are reserve components of the
