Contact:  John Lerg 269-685-6851
Agency: Natural Resources

March 5, 2008

The Department of Natural Resources will host a public meeting to discuss potential changes to managed hunting within the Allegan State Game Area. The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Plainwell Operations Service Center, 621 N. 10th St., Plainwell.

"This meeting provides an opportunity for all interested individuals to give us feedback on the managed hunt unit, which is often called Fennville Farm Unit," said Sara Schaefer, Southwest Management Unit supervisor for the DNR's Wildlife Division. "We will talk about how the 2005 regulation changes are working and discuss any new regulation changes that are needed."

Some topics that will be discussed include: the consolidation of goose hunting in December and January; ways to reduce hunting pressure; afternoon hunting possibilities; and check station issues.

For additional information about this meeting, please call (269) 685-6851 or (269) 673-2430. Individuals attending this meeting are requested to refrain from using heavily-scented personal care products, in order to enhance accessibility for everyone. Persons with disabilities needing accommodations for this meeting should contact Cindy McQueer at (269) 673-2430 a minimum of five (5) business days before this meeting. Requests made less than five business days before this event may not be accommodated.
