The Citizens Committee for Michigan State Parks (CCMSP) will meet Wednesday, March 26, at the Michigan State University Pavilion, located at 4301 Farm Lane in East Lansing.
The stewardship subcommittee will hold a working session, beginning at 9:30 a.m., to review a proposal to amend the general management plan to rezone part of the Fort Custer Recreation Area. The finance subcommittee will begin its work session at 10 to review 2007 accomplishments, 2008 goals and objectives, and discuss long-term sustainable funding.
The regular meeting of the CCMSP begins at 12:30 p.m. with a brief introduction, followed by a presentation by Rich Bowman, director of government relations for The Nature Conservancy, regarding their January 2008 report, "The Natural Resources Trust Fund: An Updated Investment Strategy."
Following this presentation, the regular meeting will continue with public comment. The CCMSP will receive updates and reports on various parks and recreation programs; motor vehicle permits and camping reservations; performance indicators and financial reports; and various land, policy and legislative issues that affect the state parks and recreation system. The CCMSP also will take action on the proposal to amend the Fort Custer Recreation Area general management plan.
The CCMSP is an advisory group created by Public Act 392 of 2004 to address issues concerning state parks and recreation areas, including planning for long-term sustainable funding.
