Natural Resources Commission to Meet July 10 in Munising

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 10, in Munising. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at the Munising American Legion Building, located at 610 W. Munising Ave. in Munising.

At 1 p.m., there will be a joint meeting of the NRC Policy Committees on Wildlife and Fisheries and Finance and Administration. The committees will receive updates on Lake Superior issues, waterfowl season regulations, crossbow regulations and the DNR's budget and a review of various restricted funds used to operate the DNR.

At 3 p.m., the Committee of the Whole will meet. They will receive a presentation on the proposed theme park for Crawford County by Axiom Entertainment's Patrick Crosson, and the committee also will receive a presentation about improvements to the DNR's Pocket Park at the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds in Escanaba.

Public appearances before the NRC will start at 4:30 p.m. Persons wishing to provide public comment to the NRC should contact Teresa Gloden at 517-373-2352 or glodent@michigan.gov either prior to the meeting or at the meeting site. At 5 p.m., there will be a presentation of two Partners in Conservation Awards to U.P. citizens.

Items up for action by the NRC include regulation changes for early season waterfowl hunting and antlerless deer license quotas for the upcoming white-tailed deer season. DNR Director Humphries will consider action on the Michigan Wolf Management Plan, and will consider authorization for several land transactions.
