The Michigan Natural Resources Commission (NRC) will meet on Thursday, April 2, at the Lansing Center, located at 333 E. Michigan in downtown Lansing.

Prior to the Committee of the Whole meeting, several policy committees of the commission will meet.

At 9 a.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Parks and Recreation will meet in Room 202. The committee will review the State Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan, receive updates on the State Park Passport funding proposal, urban outreach initiatives, outdoor recreation programs and recruitment and camping in state parks and state forest campgrounds.

At 10:30 a.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Land Management will meet in Room 202. The committee will review conservation easement guiding principles; House Joint Resolution H and House Bill 4204, which involved Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund revenues; review a land use order for recreational panning/sluicing of gold on state land; and review NRC policies and procedures.

At 12:30 p.m., the NRC Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will meet in Room 202. The committee will review wolf delisting from the federal Endangered Species List; receive an update on cormorants; review proposed changes in wildlife regulations for taxidermy, deer management unit boundaries; late firearm antlerless deer season; and crow regulations; as well as discuss antlerless license fees.

At 3 p.m., the Committee of the Whole will convene in Room 201. At 5 p.m., the DNR and NRC will recognize a Partner in Conservation award winner, and then resume public comment.

Agenda items that are eligible for NRC action at this meeting include proposed changes to taxidermy regulations, field trial area regulations, elk and bear regulations and quotas. Action items eligible for DNR Director Rebecca Humphries' approval include an order to regulate land use for recreational panning/sluicing of gold on state land, the Parks and Recreation Division's "90 Years of Excellence -- 2009-2019 Strategic Plan," a proposed oil and gas lease auction for May 5, and authorization of several land transactions.
