Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council to Meet Jan. 13 in Newberry

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizen Advisory Council (CAC) for the Department of Natural Resources will meet Wednesday, Jan. 13 from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m., at the Luce Mackinac Alger Schoolcraft District Health Department building, located at 14150 Hamilton Lake Rd., in Newberry.

Agenda items will include:

    - Forestry Coalition update

    - Deer Management Plan update

    - March two-week walleye season update

    - Presentation on upcoming DNR/DEQ merger

    - Deer Management Assistance Permits

    - 2009 deer season discussion

    - Wildlife Division update from DNR Wildlife
    Chief Russ Mason

    The CACs were formed to give U.P. citizens more input into DNR regional programs and activities. The councils, in both the Eastern U.P. and Western U.P., represent a variety of outdoor recreation interests and help the DNR identify ways to be more effective across the region.

    CAC meetings are open to the public. If you would like to be considered as a future CAC member, please fill out the nomination form found on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/upcac.
