The Bear Hunters’ Preference Point Look Up allows bear hunters to search for the number of points they have, based on the information they used to apply for the bear hunt in previous years.
In the Look Up, hunters are asked to enter one of three identification numbers: 1) Driver’s License, or 2) Sport card ID number, or 3) a Michigan ID number. Data is searched and the number of preference points associated with the ID number are returned to the hunter. If the hunter disagrees with the number of points, they are immediately prompted to an e-mail page where they enter the number of points they believe they have and the e-mail is sent to the DNR. Those who disagree using this system will be contacted by the DNR within 10 working days to clarify the point issue. (If you know that you have applied with different IDs (drivers’ license, sport card) in previous years, or if you have applied under two different names (Bill or William), let the DNR know).
To check out your preference points go to the E-License page and click on the "Check Bear Preference Points" link in the left navigation bar.
