| Carcass Care |
|
Bear hunting season usually occurs in warm and wet weather conditions. The carcass of a harvested bear can be up to five times larger than a deer, and the terrain over which the bear must be moved can be especially difficult. For meat of good quality, follow these important steps:
- Cool meat quickly (minimum 32-40° F) and age properly.
- Prevent dampness (any waterproof covering must allow full air circulation).
- Keep meat clean, and keep flies off.
