Early September Canada Goose Hunting

Dates: Sept. 1-10 in the Upper Peninsula and Saginaw, Tuscola and Huron counties (except areas noted below). Sept. 1-15 in the Lower Peninsula except Saginaw, Tuscola and Huron counties (except areas noted below).

Daily Limit: 5 Canada geese daily.

Possession Limit: 10 Canada geese.

Hunting Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to sunset (see below).

Open Hunt Areas: Statewide, excluding some wildlife areas and portions of some state parks and recreation areas. See map below and additional information that follows.

(1) All or portions of the following areas are open Sept. 1-10:
Port Crescent State Park
Sleeper State Park

(2) Portions of the following areas are open Sept. 1-15:
Bald Mountain Recreation Area
Bay City Recreation Area
Brighton Recreation Area
Grand Mere State Park
Highland Recreation Area
Holly Recreation Area
Ionia Recreation Area
Lake Hudson Recreation Area
Mitchell State Park
Negwegon State Park
Ortonville Recreation Area
Pinckney Recreation Area
Pontiac Lake Recreation Area
Proud Lake Recreation Area
Rose Lake Wildlife Research Area
Sleepy Hollow State Park
Thompson's Harbor State Park
Waterloo Recreation Area
Wetzel Recreation Area

Craig Lake State Park
Fayette State Park
Indian Lake State Park
Laughing Whitefish Falls Scenic Site
McLain State Park

South Higgins Lake State Park

Sturgeon Point State Park
Wilderness State Park
Yankee Springs Recreation Area

Contact your local DNR Parks and Recreation or Wildlife office for information. Note:The early September season is closed within the following management units (see map below):
